running without air filter?

Post  M4rk3y on Tue Jul 08, 2014 7:51 pm

Morning all,

this might be a completely idiotic thing to say in this forum. So I hope it doesn't offend the die hard bikers, but please bear in mind I have little to know knowledge and im here to learn.

can I ride my bike without the air filter in? the reason I ask, and I offer this at the risk of being labelled a poser, it sounds Awesome.

also, if I take the baffles out the exhaust will this de restrict the engine in anyway? or is it more likely to make the engine less responsive through lack of back pressure?

Many thanks

Running with no filter will seriously damage your engine

Bikes of old ran with very little filtration, I also doubt it will seriously damage your engine. affraid  You will probably get increased bore wear but you won't notice much.  Laughing
The only thing you'll probably get is poor running as the manufacturer designed the bike to be fitted with an air filter Very Happy
